This is one of my favorite holiday drinks. I’m not that big a fan of cranberry flavored drinks but I love that deep red color during the holidays, so I’ve had to come with drinks that use other red fruits. I make this Christmas Tri Punch during the summertime when fresh bing cherries are available, but frozen works really easily and you can make them all year round. Kids usually go crazy over this one so make more than you think you’d need. Trust me.
1 12oz bag of frozen dark organic cherries (unsweetened)
1 cup of freshly squeezed lemon juice
1 cup of sugar
1 cup of freshly squeeze orange juice
8 cups of ice-cold water
orange slices for garnishing
Set aside a few cherries (1 or 2 per cup for garnishing) and add half of the remaining cherries into a blender. Add one half of the water and sugar in the blender and blend until really smooth. Add mixture to a large pitcher and repeat with remaining cherries, water and sugar.
In the pitcher, stir in lemon juice and orange juice. Chill for about 1 hour to allow the flavors to settle. To serve Christmas Tri Punch, fill serving cups halfway with ice, pour, and garnish with cherries and an orange slice.
Serves 6-8 (normal people, but only 4 in my family)
